Our September Business Meeting and Cultural Presentation
will take place on Thursday, September 13tht at 7:00pm.
The presenter, Giacomo Calabria, a Scholar with Humanities New
York and the Author of two new novels. The topic “Ulysses
Oration”, one of the most cherished passages n Dante’s Commedia,
offering in Primo Levi’s Survival in Auschwitz and enjoying a
reputation comparable to summer blockbusters. Join us for a
discussion on this mini-epic from Inferno, which will be read in
English, alongside illustrations to best capture the book and
feel of Ulysses’ last voyage. Please bring dessert for the
social following the program. Open to the public.
End-of-Summer Candlelight Dinner on the Lawn. On Friday,
September 21st from 5:30-8:30pm, please join a group of
friends of the Museum as they host an End-of-Summer Candlelight
Dinner on the Lawn of the American Italian Heritage Museum to
support the Organization. The catered event will feature a
full-menu of Italian cuisine, Italian wine & beer, along with
table-side musical entertainment all under the stars. This is an
event not to be missed. Limited seating. Reservations only. Rain
or shine. Tickets are __ for members and ___ for non-members. To
make a reservation, please call ______. Payment will be due
prior to the event. Event chairs are Diane Conroy-LaCivita and
Pizza & Movie Night will take place on Friday,
September 28th at 6:30pm. The movie is “Roman Holiday” with
Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck. It is a romantic comedy film.
It was nominated for the Academy for Best Picture and the story
takes place in Rome, Italy. The cost for pizza and refreshments
is $5. Please make your reservation by September 25th. Phil

Our Annual Columbus Day Celebration will take place on
Monday, October 8th (Columbus Day) at 11:00am. Last year was
very successful. We had political, ethnic, civic and cultural
leaders speak. We will do the same this year. The program will
be only one-hour, followed by a reception. We hope you will
donate dessert, fruit, cheese and crackers for the reception.
This is the only Columbus event taking place on Columbus Day in
the whole region. Please help us save Columbus Day by attending
this important celebration. Honor the man who made the New World
known to the Old World changing these Worlds forever! Open to
Jumpstart your Italian Genealogy – Wednesday, October 17th at
11:00am. People often ask themselves, “I know my ancestors
existed but how do I find them?” What do you do if you never
asked your grandparents where they were born? Instructor John
Capano will provide information on internet resources to find
these lost ancestors and new, living relatives you never knew
existed. Bring your own laptop or tablet device. Cost is $5.
Reservations must be made by October 14th.
The October Business Meeting & Cultural Presentation will
take place on Thursday, October 18th at 7:00pm. The cultural
presentation topic is “Before They Were Our Mothers: Voices of
Women Born Before Rosie Started Riveting.” Writers will read
from the anthology of the same name, about their Italian
immigrant fore-mothers where Maria is bullied because of her
nationality and Frances struggles to fit in with a different
culture. Editor Patricia A. Nugent will read her story about her
father’s decision to anglicize his name and the impact on her
family. Josephine Pasciullo will read a story about her mother
and Leah Nanci Russell will read about her grandmother. Please
bring dessert for the social following the program. Open to the
Pizza & Movie Night will take place on Friday, October 26th
at 6:30pm. Join us for the 1994 Italian film, “il Postino
(The Postman)” which was nominated for five Oscars, including
Best Picture, and won for Best Music (Original Dramatic Score).
(Italian with English subtitles, color, runs 108 minutes.) Cost
for pizza and refreshments is $5. Please make your reservation
by October 24th.
You are invited to a program to honor Veterans on Wednesday,
November 7th at 11:15am. This is a great opportunity to
honor Veterans and thank them for their service. Please bring
dessert for the reception to follow. At the end of the program,
all veterans will be admitted free to the Museum.
You are invited to a Mass for our deceased members and
friends at our Museum on Thursday, November 8th at 7:00pm.
Mass will be said by Father Anthony Chiaramonte (a member) using
the altar in our Chapel built by Ben San. Please send us names
of those you would like remembered and we will place them on the
altar during the Mass. A reception will follow. Please bring
dessert to share. Open to the public.
Our November Business Meeting and Cultural Presentation will

cultural presentation topic is “How Dante Invented Modern
Italian” presented by Marino D’Orazio, Ph.D., a trial lawyer,
educator and author. Please bring dessert for the social

Pizza & Movie Night will take place on Friday, November 30th
at 6:30pm. The movie is the 1960 American comedy “It Started
in Naples,” starring Clark Gable, Sophia Loren and Vittorio De
Sica. (English, color, runs 100 minutes.) The cost for pizza and
refreshments is $5. Please make your reservation by November
